A great way to achieve the magic 6000m altitude
Stok Kangri Climb
This trip has it all, a great mountain adventure and trek and some fascinating cultural and historical sightseeing as part of your acclimatisation. Whatever you do don’t fall asleep on the early morning flight from Delhi to Leh or you will miss passing over the Great Himalayas. A visit to Leh and the surrounding areas in Ladakh is a holiday in itself but it’s also great acclimatisation prior to going on trek. The journey through the Stok mountains is totally absorbing and great fun and cross ing two passes at almost 5,000m is also sound preparation for what lies ahead. We encountered some late snow and met several groups who had not reached the summit so our hopes of reaching the top were not particularly high. A combination of a stable weather window and an experienced head Sherpa (Uden) ensured our success; we had a longer day than anticipated and our Sherpa guides chose a route up the shoulder of the mountain avoiding the normal summer ridge route. The extra effort involved was more than compensated by the stunning views and sense of elation. The trip notes advise that you can encounter early/late snow in June/September and of course this can impact on your chances of reaching the summit, but then the mountain and base camp will be more crowded in July & August. The standard of service, food and attention to detail on this trek were second to none and that’s due to the efforts of the whole trek crew but ultimately is down to the leadership of Uden our trek leader. A great group, a great trek team, a great part of the world to visit and a great 6000m peak......I can’t believe that was only a two week trip.

Amazing family holiday
Family Adventures in the Algarve

We have just got back from a week in Portugal, staying with Jonathan and Violeta at their amazing home. We were made to feel part of the family. The accommodation was lovely, the food out of this world and the activities great fun. The kids (and adults alike) had an absolute ball! I would definitely recommend this holiday. Thank you.

Stunning tourist free hiking and beautiful accommodation - we will return!
Walking Wild Tuscany
Without exaggeration, this is one of the most wonderful holidays we have ever had. Hosts Ailsa & Jamie own the most beautiful organic farm in the Tuscan mountains and it is truly like something out of a dream. Our accommodation was perfect, with beautiful views over the farm and mountains and a large swimming pool to relax in after our daily hikes. Ailsa & Jamie are perfect hosts and Ailsa's cooking the best we had in Italy and we were there for three weeks - a highlight was opening our 'Ailsa' packed lunch out on the trail each day - WOW. Our daily, guided hikes were challenging and quite simply stunning - the first two days, we did not see anybody else on the trail and very few people in the days after that. Our local guide was so enthusiastic, knowledgeable and passionate about Tuscany and included visits to beautiful small villages that are full of locals not tourists. This is an unspoilt part of Europe that offers so much - we cannot wait to go back. ENJOY!

Nice walking but totally spoilt by failure of baggage transfer so day lost.
High Peaks of the Balkans
While not KE's fault, Lufthansa's failure to transfer our (and 3 other group members) luggage to Tirana meant we had to walk the first day in our travelling clothes (not walking clothes) and risk going up the mountain with no waterproofs and unsuitable shoes. Despite the KE reps best efforts our baggage was still missing although the others were re-united with their bags by the following day consequently we missed out the second day walk because of lack of our walking kit, reluctance t o put ourselves and the rest of the group at necessary risk. Through the efforts of the KE rep, fortunate goodwill of the son of the shepherd hut owner and a new road that has been recently constructed we were able to rejoin the group for the rest of the week. However, the uncertainty of whether we would regain our luggage and the fact we missed a full days walk spoilt the best part of the week. The walking itself was pleasant with beautiful scenery and stunning floral diversity. Local hospitality could not be faulted, the food and accommodation was simple but very good and more than adequate. Having once regained our luggage/kit and we were able to enjoy our time, the particular highlights were the variety and beauty of the flora and the stunning campsite finished off with spectacular firefly display once it got dark. Whilst perhaps a downbeat way to end/start the holiday, a visit to the BunkArt museum in Tirana should be included on the itinerary as an insight into Albanias recent past.

Very wild and scenic
Gondogoro Peak and the Hushe Valley
The Hushe Valley was lush and scenic. The Hushe inhabitants are warm and welcoming. Most of the days hikes were not long, but were strenuous & rewarding. The views of the surrounding mountains and glaciers were spectacular. One should be aware, as in any remote mountain location, that the itinerary is very weather dependent and that the trekker should not be disappointed if the peak cannot be achieved. In our case, heavy snows prevented us from summiting Gondogoro Peak, but we enjoyed ea ch day's spectacular scenery. The KE experience is exceptional. The local guides, porters, kitchen staff and trip leader, Tom Richardson, work tirelessly to provide a unique experience in the beautiful Karakorum Mountains. We also found the people of Baltistan and Pakistan to be very welcoming, gracious and hospitable.

A great walking holiday
High Tatras Trekking - The Carpathian Mountains
Really enjoyed this very well organised group walking week in the High Tatras. Beautiful mountains and the huts had great character, all had their quirky differences. Could not have wished for a better guide than Jacob. He was extremely knowledgeble about the area and made sure he looked after one and all. After a first day walk in the Zakapane area, it was obvious that my husband and I were not as fit as the rest of the group (our bad!), but with the option of shorter days and a second guide (V eronica) on day 3 (who was also very good), we were able to enjoy each day, while not holding back the others, who were up for each and every peak! Hints: get as fit as you can, be prepared for all weathers (we had snow in July!), remember your passport! (you'll need it for your first hut in Slovakia) and don't pack your bathers as swimming in the lakes is banned in both countries! (boo-hoo).

A brilliant one week trek, truly amazing
One Week Mount Toubkal Trek
This trip was excellent, it was 'full on' from start to finish. Although only a week long if felt much longer. The trekking was through the most beautiful scenery and the days were quite long (but as expected). The Gite in Imlil and the hotel in Marrakech were both excellent and a good choice by KE. The food on trek was amazing. The chef produced some beautiful meals (I think I'm a convert to Moroccan food now). Ismail, our guide was very good and together we had a lot of laughs a long the way. Summit was way a long one but we all got to the top of Mount Toubkal and back down for lunch. The views from the summit were amazing, with clouds lying in the valleys. The tour of Marrakech and the evening meal were top class. The souks were an amazing experience. Our group of 7 got on so well we plan to meet up again very soon. If you want a week away this is the trek for you.

A memorable trek on the TMB!
Best of the Tour du Mont Blanc
My wife and I almost didn't choose KE Adventure due to the lack of reviews but boy are we happy we did. From minute one, KE was on top of our trip and was very helpful with travel tips and trek info. However, once we got to France, we realized how lucky we were to have found KE. A trip like this is only as good as your guide and our guide, Andy Duff, was fantastic! Not only did he know the terrain, local animals and fauna, he constantly kept us entertained with riddles, jokes and tales from his other expeditions. He also made a habit of watching out for my wife and I (at 55 years old we were usually at the back of the group) and thoroughly helped my wife get through some of the toughest spots on the trek. Andy took care of all of our needs at the hotels and made sure there were no hitches with our transportation. Speaking of transportation, I cannot stress enough how great it was not worrying about our luggage, accommodations or meals. KE and Andy set us up in very nice hotels with lovely meals every breakfast, lunch and dinner. I would highly recommend KE to any traveler thinking of doing the TMB. One last thing I would like to share regarding the trek itself. It is not easy. I worked out, ran and hiked for nearly 3 months prior to the trip and still had a tough time of it in certain spots. Yes, we are in our 50's but other than some questionable knees, keep ourselves in pretty good shape. The up hills are pretty steep going for hours at a time and the downhills are generally worse. You will be bouldering, crossing rivers and snow fields, climbing ladders attached to mountain sides and constantly walking on shale and rock. I don't want to dissuade anyone from doing this beautiful adventure but you will not have a very good time if you are not physically and mentally prepared. If you are though, I promise you will have a trek you will never forget.

Fantastic trek to a 20,000ft summit in Ladakh
Stok Kangri Climb
This was a great trip. Organisation good. Food good. Companions good. But what made it great was the fact that we summited! As it turns out, that's by no means a done deal; of the 2 weeks we had in India, the day set aside for our summit attempt was the only day that it was 'on' - principally because of late season snow this year. Other parties that we met before & after, in Leh and at base camp, all had tales of failed attempts. The route that we took on summit day follow ed steep snow slopes on the eastern shoulder of the mountain, rather than the normal south ridge line - again due to the amount of snow. And summit day itself was big - nearly 14hrs, with the return to basecamp in often knee-deep, sometimes thigh-deep, snow. So all-in-all pretty hard work, but so worth it. The rest of the trip was extremely well organised and fun. Arguably the early few days in Leh were a bit slow, although I'm sure this helped with acclimatisation. The Sherpas and trekking crew were fantastic, keeping us fed, watered, motivated and safe throughout. Thanks guys! So all-in-all I'd definitely recommend this trip, but would caution that the early season trips might carry a higher risk of not being able to make the summit. In the circumstances I know in hindsight that we were very lucky indeed.

KE Adventure reply

Thank you for your review and congratulations on reaching the summit. All the Himalaya received an unprecedented amount of snow during this trekking season and there would not normally be any issue with the early season trips to Stok Kangri.

Just a little bit of snow...

A fabulous hiking holiday in the awe-inspiring Wadi Rum desert and Petra
Jordan's Wadi Rum and Petra

This was one of the best holidays we have ever had. Our guide Murad was fantastic. Ali and Hussein were also wonderful. In such a short time the group and guides built a wonderful rapport and had so much fun together. And Petra and Wadi Rum were quite simply STUNNING. Spectacular landscapes, absolute stillness in Wadi Rum and mind-blowing history in Petra. This is a fabulous trip.

Amazing trip and a 6000m+ summit.
Stok Kangri Climb

A fantastic trip in this very remote part of the world. The staff from day one were brilliant especially Uden and his team in the mountains. Excellent food, equipment and itinerary to help you reach your goal. Summit day is tough, it took us 14 hours round trip but the views at the top were worth it, deep snow made it tough so be prepared to dig in!!!!!! Overall a fantastic trip with a good mix of culture, rest and mountains. Book it!!!

Excellent introduction to Rila and Pirin Mountains in Bulgaria
Trekking the Ridges & Summits of Bulgaria
This was an excellent walking holiday in Bulgaria. The Rila and Pirin Mountains are beautiful with high alpine lakes, nice meadows, and stark rocky terrain. Trail included lots of boulder fields as well as very rocky uneven trail most of the time and due to recent rain and late season snow lots of water crossings and wet trail going up the side of streams. Overnight hut was small with 2 long continuous sleeping areas but acceptable for the night, toilet outside and down the hill. Monastery was w ell worth a visit. Compared to previous trips I have taken with KE- the difficulty/rockiness of the trail and length of day spent on trail (6-9 hours) I would rate this more than a 6 on the KE scale.

A real adventure
Traverse of the Jotunheimen

Definitely pack light for this trip, views are stunning and the mountain huts are luxurious. Beginning of the week is tough, but gets slightly easier. The guides Jakob and Bjorn are true professionals and very knowledgable. Pack snacks beforehand as they are not cheap! Norway done right!
