Unforgettable journey with magnificent views and history
La Gomera - Jewel of the Canaries
My family went to La Gomera and our expectations were beyond what we imagined. Hiking in the cloud forest, walking from village to village, learning the history of the La Gomera citizens, meeting new friends while sharing the local food. The pictures do not do it justice on KE's web site. Living in Florida with no elevation or hills, it was a challenge, but loved every minute of it and will plan another KE adventure in the future. Enekoiz Rodriguez was our guide. You can sense his ... passion for this beautiful island, and his wealth of knowledge was so impressive. With a group of nine trekkers/hikers, he balanced the hike with everyone's ability and there were no complaints from anyone. He truly is the best of the best. Ene made our journey to his beautiful land top notch and welcoming. He is a great asset to KE Adventures.

A perfect trip.
Timeless Trails of Portugal's Algarve

This was just perfect for me. The accommodation was lovely....such a comfy bed..., food wonderful, run by an amazing family who all contribute and the walking beautiful at this time of year with all the flowers in bloom. Violetta is a great cook. I will probably return next time I need a week of R and R.

A wild ride in Africa
Under African Skies Camping Safari
Canoeing down the Zambezi with hippos in every direction was fabulous as were the game drives, the cooking, the food we ate and most of the lodges. It was a great way to see an enormous chunk of Africa. I'll be back to explore more. This is a tough road trip traversing 5214km across 4 countries on roads affected by the rains. 10+ hours driving was the norm.
Camping was mainly in bivouac tents which had to be put up and taken down (and some lodges).
Its an exhausting trip but also
... exhilarating. I had a great time.

An amazing unique experience!
La Gomera - Jewel of the Canaries

La Gomera is unlike the other Canary Islands. The cloud forest in the middle of the island is stunningly beautiful and atmospheric, with misty surroundings and fantastic flowers and moss covered trees. Lower down the tropical lushness is equally stunning with palm trees, banana terraces and white washed houses. Friendly people, superb food and hospitality...what more could you want? And a whistling language in a class of it's own! Oh and the superb walking of course, challenging but satisfying.

Unique landscape of mountains, waterfalls and coastal scenery
Levada Trails and Peaks of Madeira

This trip is an excellent way to experience and get inspired by the natural beauty of the unique and varied landscape of Madeira. Mountainous landscape may present a challenge at times but the views, fresh air, trees, plants and bird song are the rewards that make all the physical effort well worthwhile!

Time stood still and left us breathless
La Gomera - Jewel of the Canaries
Immersed in ancient, cloud covered laurel forests, Garajonay Parque Nacional provides an incredible backdrop for a week of amazing hikes. Anchored by an incredibly knowledgeable and passionate local guide, Enekoiz, the well curated itinerary covers a large part of the island and its incredible biodiversity. The hikes provide enough technical challenge to not be bored yet still be able to enjoy yourself. Some sections are more of a level 6 but depends on your experience hiking on stone and rock. ... Can't wait to return to La Gomera.

A superb African adventure.
Under African Skies Camping Safari
Although this trip involves over 5,000 km of driving on mainly poor quality roads, the rewards are sensational. Starting at the magnificent Victoria Falls, we moved on to Gwabi for a canoeing safari on the Zambezi, dodging a very large number of hippos and wild camping on a small island. Next up was South Luangwa, for the finest game viewing we have ever experienced (we saw leopard on all four of our game drives). Snorkelling in Lake Malawi came next, followed by a very long drive to the ... Mozambican coast, where we experienced stunning scenery, very friendly people and the very best seafood on the planet! Last but not least we moved on to the vast Kruger Park; my personal favourite sighting there (very close to our tent) was a honey badger. The guides, and organisation, were superb. Strongly recommended.

A REALLY MEMORABLE LAST VISIT TO NEPAL (PROBABLY!)
Gosainkund and Langtang Trek
Having done Corsica's GR20 with KE Adventure ("Grade 10: Tough") back in 2019 it was natural to make KE my 1st choice for my return to the Himalayas, probably for the final time, 20 years after my first visit. Back in 2006 I went with Adventure Peaks and successfully climbed Lhakpa Ri (7,045m / 23,113ft) and much of the trip involved travelling across Tibet in a Toyota Landcruiser: I didn't see much of Nepal apart from Kathmandu. This time I fancied seeing the scenery, teahouses and culture of ... Nepal and KE's "Gosainkund & Langtang Trek" seemed to fit the bill – minimal driving and 12 days trekking with the option of climbing a peak almost 5,000m high near the end if you were up for it. It was graded "7: Challenging" but it was something I felt my 79 year-old body could cope with so I booked.
However, the more I looked at the daily schedule of distance, ascent & descent, the closer & closer it seemed to resemble the GR20 – only at a higher altitude!! According to the website it was 85.2 miles over 12 days, with 30,741 ft / 31,316ft of ascent / descent, compared to the GR20's 124.8 miles over 13 days with 42,109 ft / 44,292 ft ascent / descent and I began to wonder if I had bitten off more than I could chew. So I trained as hard as I could on the UK hills and hoped for the best.
I can never really be sure I would have coped with the whole route as Air India cancelled my outbound flight to Delhi just after midnight and I thought my whole trip was "off". However, KE Adventure were wonderful having Michelle manning the phone & WhatsApp at home as it was Sunday and the offices were closed. She kept me positive and worked out that if I could get my flight the next day, KE could arrange transport that would enable me to catch up with the group at Kutumsang and so only miss the first 2 days strenuous trekking. This is indeed what happened and, although I was sad at the time, the weather those days wasn't great and it meant I was 16 miles & 7,546 ft of ascent fresher when it came to the "exploration day" at Kyanjin Gompa. 6 of the group chose to take it easy and explore the village and I was one of only 2 to opt to try for a peak. We both made the 4,400m very local top but I was the only one to reach the main summit of Kyanjin Ri (4,773m) with Uni one of our Sherpa guides.
It was a great, very well-planned trip where we walked most days from 8am until 4pm with stops for optional morning coffee/tea and pre-paid-for lunch. The days were not long distance-wise but were tough with 1,500 – 4,000 ft of hot & sweaty uphill most days. And not uphill like in UK where you swing one foot after the other! No, much of the route was up zig-zagging "Sherpa steps" which for most people meant step up with one foot, bring the other foot up level and pant or take a deep breath before repeating the process …...over and over and over again. The tea / guest houses were friendly, if primitive compared to UK standards. We had amazingly diverse choices for soup, main meal & breakfasts, plus the opportunity to buy WiFi access most nights for a £2 of so. Two of our Sherpa guides took our orders, delivered these to the kitchen & then acted as waiters bringing us our choices when they were ready. Pemba always led at the front each day, Umi was always somewhere in the middle of the group and chief guide, Phurba, always stayed with whoever was the tail ender. The "taxi" transport to and from Kathmandu was memorably jolting – never will I complain of UK potholes ever again!! The scenery was stunning and wildlife, porters, mule trains amazing.
To conclude, the trip was worth every penny and I am so glad I booked to see Nepal as it was a totally different experience to my previous visit to the Himalaya. If in doubt… book and then try and get in some good step-climbing experience. You won't regret it !!

A great introduction to New Zealand
Walking New Zealand - North to South Island Explorer

A whirlwind tour of New Zealand in 19 days to ensure you must return to see more of it. Absolutely amazing trip. I booked with KE because of the Tongarriro Alpine Crossing, which was an incredible experience, but there was so much more to enjoy. The Queen Charlotte Track, Abel Tasman Track, the West Coast, Milford Sound all exceeded expectations. Our guides, Shantel and Rich, were so knowledgeable and approachable and ensured we had a fabulous time.

April in Dalmatia
Walking Dubrovnik and The Dalmatian Coast
Loved the itinerary. Nice mix of land/sea, city/country experiences. The Dalmatian coast is gorgeous, and Dubrovnik is rightfully on most people's bucket. One of the best aspects of the itinerary is that all of the transfers are done in the morning before the walking commences, and the walks begin and end at the the night's lodgings. That means the walking routes can be modified to suit one's pleasure without creating transfer problems. We did this on a couple of days.

Vacationing in
... Croatia in April involves some tradeoffs. On the negative side, it is too cold for most people to swim. Also, many restaurants are closed. This was especially true on Mljet Island. On the positive side, you have the place almost to yourself, and the temperatures are very pleasant for walking; summers can be uncomfortably warm. Personally, I would recommend April unless swimming in the Adriatic is your priority.

Breakfasts, served at our lodgings, were good; what you would expect at a decent B&B. The restaurant meals were excellent, though the wine was nothing to rave about. The lodgings were acceptable, but they could use some work. More importantly, the proprietors at all locations were just lovely. I also want to put in a good word for the agency that looked after us in country. Everything went like clockwork, and the people we dealt with were as friendly and helpful as can be.

All in all, a very satisfying holiday.

Amazing Family Trip!
Norway Winter Family Adventure

Norway was a place we had always wanted to go and it did not disappoint. Venabu was an incredible place to stay with very friendly staff, encouraging guides and like minded people. It feels like stepping into your grandparents house and everyone was so welcoming. The scenery was stunning and the activities were great fun from snow shoeing, cross county skiing to sledging. It was all so much fun. We have made memories that will last us a life time.

Stunning scenery and a sense of peace
Edge of the Sahara Trek

A wonderful few days, and a very well-organised trip. Walking through the desert brings a great sense of peace and tranquillity; the pace is manageable and the facilities are excellent. Two days are spent travelling between Marrakech and the base camp, but it's absolutely worth it.

Rugged adventure
Walking Holiday on the Captivating Cape Verde Islands

Fascinating trip to Cape Verde. Very varied and not at all like the main tourist islands. Hiking was quite tiring as tracks were rugged with lots of loose rocks, so needed to concentrate. Felt like we were seeing the real Cape Verde especially on Santo Antoa where we spent the most time.
