A 5 Star Trip!

Everest Base Camp Trek

My husband and I have recently completed a twelve day trek to EBC. We struck lucky, trekking with a fabulous group within a glorious weather window and were consequently rewarded with stunning mountain views. Equally fortuitous was being allotted our guide Rinji who, with an unassuming professionalism, made us feel valued, looked after and safe during every step of the way. Sleek operations rarely occur without occasional hiccups but if there were any, Rinji never passed it onto us; instead he ... calmly sorted everything with his easy smile. His knowledge and passion for his country and homelands were infectious and the way he encouraged our wonderful assistant guides (Vimod and Arun) and looked out for our lovely four porters was impressive. How Vimod and Arun stood quietly waiting in the freezing cold while I gasped for breath at 4am climbing Kala Patthar at a snails pace, I will never know! Or repeatedly stood on the downward slope of steep, narrow mountain passes, instinctively grabbing me/my rucksack when I momentarily slipped on icey stretches.

The Khumbu Valley and the Sherpa culture is a world within a world. One that is truly blessed with such hard working, kindhearted people. One we could all learn from. Thank you Rinji, Vimod, Arun and the porters. The more you trek, the more you realise it isn’t just about reaching EBC but being immersed in a wonderful, magnetic culture and scenery that repeatedly takes your breath away.

[Guide] Murad is the man. Calm, understated,a slow burn. Our guide,leader,navigator,organiser, fixer,communicator (tomorrrrrrrrow !),cultural/historical informer,jokes,liason with all the other great locals who made our trip (Mohammed and Said stand out but many others) We met many great people on our trip but Murad was with us from start to finish. He was great to us all, made our trip ... and is a major asset to KE.

[Itinerary] A stretch but the right choice of activities,camping/hotels,walks/scramble/climb. Felt pushed but on the right side at all times.

Extraordinary experience

Temples and Tea Trails of Sri Lanka

Spectacular scenery, peace and serenity in the tea trails. Get fit, if you have any sort of balance issues , use poles!! Drink more water than you think is enough and add Hydralyte to it when walking any distance in the heat!!

Perfect balance of sightseeing and walking

Temples and Tea Trails of Sri Lanka

Experiencing Temples, a train ride, amazing wildlife including elephants, beautiful flora in both a highland and jungle environment. Superb hotels and food. Tip: a very active trip with some early starts and full days, Have to take shoes off frequently and walk around temples, sometimes on sharp sand and rough stones, so be prepared for this. Not recommended if you are seeking a leisurely holiday.

Stunning views, lovely people

Annapurna and Bandipur Luxury Lodge Trek

The weather was hot and the views were amazing given the clear skies. The lodges are very well appointed and
welcoming. There are a huge number of steps to climb and descend along this trek. Most paths are well defined but few
contour along at any height, you are either climbing up or walking down steep slopes. Water is provided throughout do
no need to buy filtered water bottles before you travel. You do need to be reasonable fit and used to walking in
mountains. I wore boots but several ... in my group just used walking trainers. A brilliant introduction to the Himalayas with
your own hot shower and clean bathroom. I'd recommend this trek to anyone not wanting to go too high or too extreme.
You walk at your own pace and can take in the varied environments around you.

The highlights were your kind staff. The people of Nepal, the wildlife, the place. I scenery is amazing wherever. I never got that bucket list tick of reaching ABC, but you are looking at just that, missing a tick.

Incredible Guide

Jordan's Wadi Rum and Petra

The guide was incredibly qualified, friendly & engaging. The food was wonderfully prepared & cooked. Although I did not intend it to be so, this turned out to be a great detox holiday for me. Most meals were mostly vegetables cooked deliciously, often with some chicked but definately no red meat. There was no mobile 'phone signal in Wadi Rum, so no internet, no social media, no news. There was no alcohol. Just spectacular views, good exercise & great food.

First class trip with balance between trekking and cultural visits

The Druk Path Trek

Our visit to Bhutan was superbly organised, and managed. Ishy, our guide, and was incredibly attentive and always ready with answers to questions on anything from history (modern or ancient), local culture and, of course, the logistics of our trek.

We had a three days in Kathmandu under our own steam which allowed time to get over jet lag and to get a bit of time above sea-level. The split between cultural visits and trekking was well balanced and we thoroughly enjoyed the time we spent ... at the Thimpu festival. The delayed arrival of some of our group meant we had two opportunities to watch the colourful, and highly stylised masked dances depicting first, the traumas of purgatory and then rebirth. The atmosphere was tremendous and the we enjoyed talking to local spectators who engaged with us spontaneously to welcome us to the country and their festival.

We enjoyed the temples and dzongs and marvelled at the three dimensional mandalas, intricate decorations and the stories behind them all. The deeply religious nature of the country is palpable. Our favourite dzong was at Punakha where our visit was made more dramatic by the torrential rain which had the rivers in torrent, and gave the fortifications a real brooding atmosphere. Another favourite was the excellent National Museum at Paro which is housed in the Ta Dzong watchtower which overlooks the Paro Dzong.

The trek was well paced and organised with a variety of trails through steep forests and more open, alpine ridges. Once above the treeline, the views of the distant snow-capped peaks were tremendous. We were blessed with excellent weather throughout the trek and, apart from the first day up to the Tiger's Nest, we had the trails to ourselves. Temperatures were pleasant throughout, and the chill of the evenings was offset by roaring campfires and even hot-water bottles! The catering was fantastic and hot lunches prepared by the camp chef were a first for me on a Himalayan trek. I've been on a fair number of treks and the Druk Path approached luxurious. Our group was a nice size and good company and I think we were well matched to to the rigours of the trek which is well billed as "moderate". We did have a difficult moment when my wife succumbed to altitude sickness but Ishy quickly organised one of the trek crew to accompany her down to a safe altitude. A short notice hotel was arranged where she could await our return. The office crew kept her well entertained with some local visits in Thimpu and on the longest day of our trek, some of the group opined that she had maybe got the best deal :-).

The hotel accommodation was simple and comfortable. Service was friendly and helpful. We made the surprising discovery of Bhutanese whisky which is a blend of Scotch and local spirit and which was very pleasant at the end of an evening.

The only room for improvement, we would suggest, would be have had a little more free time in Thimpu at the end of the trip. An extra night and free day would have been fun. Maybe this could be offered as an option.

Overall it was memorable trip; one of many I've taken with KE and which ensures I will come back for more. I cannot finish without mentioning our driver Chocki who drove us safely through the twisting mountain roads. As always, KE, I felt safe and secure.

A fantastic holiday

Bike Jordan Dead 2 Red

A great itinerary with a brilliant guide and support staff. Pretty hard going to start with as it was unseasonably hot, but so much to see that it was a truly rewarding trip. Hydration tablets were very useful and the day break off the bike to go round Petra was well deserved. The Petra museum is really worth popping round. You can do it in less than an hour on the Wednesday evening and I think it helps adds value before going into Petra itself which is a truly astonishing day out. Might be ... good to have a pair of sliders/flip flops to get into the dead sea and across the beach in Aqaba. The Dead sea is losing a meter of depth a year so the access on the beach is not a easy as it might seem. A pair of ear plugs could also be useful if you are light sleeper, due to the sheep there are a lot of dogs in Jordan and they sometimes do bark at night. The cycling is wonderful, amazing scenery, quiet roads, some fantastic descents and some challenging climbs. The day cycling across the desert to Wadi Rum is one for the ages.

Amazing West Lycian Way adventure

Walking The West Lycian Way

We had a memorable, exciting, beautiful, inspiring, and altogether fabulous time on KE Adventure's West Lycian Way self-guided hiking trip. This itinerary is the best one out there-- it's really well-curated and considered, with the perfect mix of stunning scenery, natural wonder, archaeology, culture, enjoyable hiking, and abundant opportunities to swim in the turquoise sea.

The logistics were expertly planned and executed, with clear communication prior to the trip. Local partner Amber ... Travel did an outstanding job arranging all vehicle transfers and luggage transport, which is critical to making this unique itinerary possible. All of our transportation went off like clockwork, with pickup locations clearly communicated and drivers always on time.

KE Adventure has newly developed their own App for this trip, and they shared it with us just days before we left for Turkey. We're so grateful that they did. The App is incredibly helpful, particularly the map feature, which can be used offline to save battery on your device while keeping you on the route.

There are stunning highlights on every single day of the trek, but the section of trail from Faralya to Alinca is a total standout-- so beautiful and wild. This is also the most physically challenging day of hiking. The first day's journey down to Oludeniz, and many of the later days of the trek, provide multiple opportunities to swim in the Mediterranean, which feels amazing after a long hot walk under the sun. There are a few spots on this week-long journey where the trail traverses the edge of a steep drop-off, but I have a fear of heights and I never had any real problem navigating these sections.

The places to stay are a lovely and diverse collection of hotels, mountain lodges, and pensions, all of them of excellent quality, and all providing a delicious and abundant Turkish breakfast to fuel your day's hike. Special mention goes to Villa Rhapsody, Montenegro Motel, Dardanos Hotel, Sardunya Hotel, and Baba Veli Pension for their own unique combinations of charm, style, amenities, stunning views, and gracious hospitality.

The Lycian Way is a world-class hike, and KE Adventure's itinerary packs everything that makes it great into a week. The days we spent on the West Lycian Way were so full, and so beautiful. Thanks for making this wonderful trip possible.
