Stunning Alpine scenery brought to life by a top class mountain guide
Best of Mont Blanc to the Matterhorn

This is an inspiring and challenging journey-of-discovery that covers snow-capped peaks, awesome glaciers, lush green valleys and impossibly blue lakes. Two or three days require good levels of fitness so it's worth preparing accordingly. Sophie the mountain guide taught us a huge amount about the geology, geography and plant life, as well as providing great tips on safe, high Alpine trekking. Some huts/hotels were better than others, but the food was always great.

We did it!
Classic Tour du Mont Blanc
The mountain heights seemed intimidating but the hikes - looking back the way we walked - were nothing but amazing! The places we stayed in were good, the meals and baggage were taking care of. We just needed our day pack, lunch, water and took lots of pictures. Our guide, Gary, was attentive, gauging our physical condition and gave us water breaks or rests. Everyday, he went over the routes we were to take and approximate time the group would take to get there. He didn't mind repeat answeting ... our questions on where would be the next point on the route. I really enjoyed the experience and the group from three different countries became very good friends.

A true adventure
Tour de Monte Rosa
A wonderful trip. If you want a varied but challenging trek through some of the most superb scenery that the Alps have to offer, then this is worth serious consideration. Personally, I found this more challenging that the KE ‘Ultimate Tour du Mont Blanc’ (UTM), which I walked last year (2015), but that might be to do with the fact that the TMR is ‘unsupported’, so you need to factor-in carrying your gear for the full duration of the trek. Having said that, the extra effort is well worth ... it. There is a mix of nights spent in hotels and in mountain refuges, with 4 consecutive nights in refuges on the Italian side, and the variety and contrasting vibe in each of these is all part of the charm. Generally, the standard of food and accommodation was very good, and, in some cases (notably Rifugios Pastore and Gabiet, and the Hotel Hannigalp in Graechen), superb. The literal ‘high point’ was Rifugio Teodulo (at 3317 metres), on the Swiss-Italian border between the Matterhorn/Cervino and the Monte Rosa, and the food and beer here tasted pretty good (even if the wash facilities were the most ‘rustic’). Hiking down from here, across the Theodul Glacier, and on, down and down, into Zermatt, gives the iconic postcard views, but throughout this trek you will be in the midst of 4000+ m high peaks and walking some truly exhilarating sections of trail. At lower elevations the path takes you through alpine meadows and forests, to the chirping of grasshoppers and the clank of cowbells, and through beautiful ‘Walser’ settlements and tidy small towns such as Macugnaga and Alagna, but higher up the drama of the high passes and rocky traverses takes over. Here we encountered ibex and chamois close at hand, as well as seeing true alpine rock gardens full of gentians and King of the Alps, and even the occasional edelweiss. So the scenery and the trail itself are awesome, but what about the people? Our group was a really eclectic one, but a privilege to get to know and to spend time with. Emma, our guide, also made this another superb experience for me. She had led the Tour du Mont Blanc in 2015 (see my review for KE’s UTM trip), so when she e-mailed to let our previous group know that she would be leading the TMR this year it sealed the decision for me (I’d already set my sights on the TMR). Emma is fun to spend time with, but is also a true professional; tuned-in to the needs and capabilities of each individual group member, and someone I trust implicitly to take the right decisions. Thanks to KE Adventure Travel, Emma, my fellow trekkers and the TMR itself, for an unforgettable experience.

Stunning trek in the Atlas mountains
One Week Mount Toubkal Trek
Wow! What an experience! It's very challenging, yet rewarding trek. Unforgettable scenery from every mountain pass, village and valley. It is advisable to do some training before this one, to enjoy it to the full. The guide and the cook were fantastic. Any meal during the trek was miles better than anything served in the hotel restaurant before the trek. The gite at the end of the trek is fabulous, such a reward after long distances, ascents and descents and 4 nights camping . It can get very ... cold during night and at high altitudes, especially when a thunderstorm hits (happened 3 times to us)! Waterproofs, thermal layers and -5c comfort rated sleeping bag is no exaggeration, even at end of August.

A great weekend break
Bulgarian Summits Weekend

a great weekend trip. The walking on day two was challenging but worth the effort. day three was a shorter walk and we were grateful for it. We visited the monastery on day one which meant more traveling. I would have preferred to have a look around Sofia on the day we arrived. The hotel in Bansko and Sofia were very good. the KE reps were excellent.

A life-affirming experience.
Walking in the Balkan Borderlands
The Balkan Borderlands trek was amazing. This was my first KE Adventure (and it certainly won't be my last!). Our guide, Semir Kardovic, was so knowledgeable and professional, always looking out for everyone in the group and providing little 'moments' - we all remember him collecting mushrooms to make a sauce for supper one evening. And how did he manage to get us to the end of our walk one day seconds before a rain storm, we think he even planned for there to be a wedding when we visited the ... 'Lady of the Rock' island in Kotor- he is incredible and a credit to his homeland.
A combination of a well-organised trek, a group of inspirational people and many memorable moments. Highly recommended.

The trip of a lifetime
Inca Trail to Machu Picchu
Our trip was well organised. Airport transfers to and from Cusco airport were prompt. Our extra nights stay in Cusco was no problem. Most of all, the Inca Trail trek to Mach Picchu was brilliant. Tents, porters and especially the food was top notch.  We had a great guide in Neptali from the local operator who taught us so much about each archeological site, saving the best for Machu Picchu itself. As a Peruvian with Quecha blood, he was passionate about his subject. I have no problem ... recommending this trip to anyone who wants to see one of the world's wonders. It really was the trip of a lifetime.

WONDERFUL WALKING TRIP
Tour de Monte Rosa

This trek was truly wonderful, with stunning scenery.
Victoria ,our guide was very friendly and great all round person.
This is a harder walk than the tour of mont blanc which I did last year but much quieter.
The refuges used were quite good, the hotels were very good especially at grachen.
A truly great experience with some lovely people in the party.

Possibly the best adventure trip I have been on (so far!)
Best of the E5 Trans Alp
It is sometimes tempting to believe that the best adventure trips are the big ones to faraway places. I've been on plenty of those. But this short, sharp trip across the alpine terrain of Germany, Austria and Italy ranks very highly in my list of adventure trips. The walking was strenuous without being overwhelming, with just a dash of easy scrambling to keep us on our toes. A series of transfers - by taxi, bus and cable car - was extremely well-judged in leaving us to focus on the very ... best sections of the route. The mountain huts were an intense experience, but by the third one we felt like old hands. The food everywhere - including the huts - was superb. The local operators did an exceptional job in co-ordinating the trip. And the leader was quite simply up there with the very best. In short, it was an absolutely first class trip which would be suitable for any regular weekend walkers in the UK who want an acute burst of adventure without having to travel far or long to get it.

Stunning views and mountain enviroment from sunrise to sunset
Italian Summit Climber
Climbing seven 4,000m Alpine peaks in a week plus all the preparation is a great experience. Each mountain has its own character. Some are open snowy peaks, others have narrow ridges or easy rocky sections. The quality of the food in the Italian mountain huts is excellent. This is an impressive achievement given their remote location. To successfully climb all 7 peaks requires a good level of fitness. Any prior training work on your endurance will help greatly. Keeping your trekking pack as ... light as possible is also highly recommended, (light + light = heavy). The public transport in Italy is very cheap, if a little slow compared to other countries. The combinations of bus and train will ultimately get you to Staffel. The final bus stop is very close to the Nordend hotel. If you can share a taxi with your fellow travellers you can get from either of the Milan airports to the hotel in 2 to 3 hours. Booking the taxi via the Nordend Hotel is the cheapest method costing just over 200 euros in total. Remember your camera for the views of snowy mountains as far as the eye can see and sunsets seen from above the clouds.

Life changing experience
Everest Base Camp Trek
I now would not travel to trek with any other company than KE.
My trip to Everest basecamp was an amazing experience. Yes some of the trekking was a bit of a slog but very much worth it to see some of the most beautiful views of the himalayas. Our sherpas were the most kind, considerate people I have ever met and it was an honor to be in their company and their country. Our group of trekkers were lovely and we still keep in touch via WhatsApp, nearly one year later! If you are buying kit in
... Katmandu and you want kit that will last and well made then visit Shonas Alpine Store, Amrit Marg, Thamel. Buy only the kit that is hand made and if you explain what you are looking for they will show you what is appropriate for your journey. Pumpernikels cafe, in central Thamel, is a lovely place to meet up with others for coffee or lunch or cakes. Free wi-fi here for zapping back to the UK the amazing photos that you will take.
KEs organisation was very good and I am about to embark on my 2nd trip with them in a few weeks time. You could not pick a better company to travel with or a better, life changing, trip to go on.

A superb Mountain Experience
Italian High Level Route
This was a great mountain experience that if anything is undersold in the brochure. The trip had a superb variety of alpine trekking and serious mountain terrain. The highlight was undoubtably the descent on the Thursday to the new Monta Rosa hut. You do need to be fairly fit and you do need to be well used to your boots. I would also advise anyone to keep their weight down. We were lucky to have a great guide in Caroline Ogden who has well as knowing her stuff kept everyones spirits up and was ... empathetic with all of the group.

wow I've got to go back
Classic Laugavegur Trail Trek
Just returned from an amazing trip to Iceland.
This was the first ‘shared’ KE trip that I have been on, linked up with a guide and group of fourteen from Iceland’s oldest guiding company, Icelandic Mountain Guides.
As I have come to expect being a regular KE traveller, this trip was well organised from start to finish. We had two guides, Maggie and Milla plus a support driver come porter come Chef.
Iceland is an amazing place of contrasts, our trip took us from the ‘Harry Potter’
... world in terms of volcanic scenery at Landmannalaugar to the green land that is Thorsmork.
Accommodation was in simple but comfortable mountain huts wherein our guides, ably assisted by a team of volunteers from within the group, cooked fabulous evening meals such as barbequed Icelandic lamb, wild salmon, lightly curried cod fillet and a belly busting lamb soup that contained fresh vegetables and large chunks of lamb, fit for a navvy.
Breakfast included on two mornings the most expertly cooked ‘Scottish’ porridge courtesy of Andrew from Fife and Duncan from Angus.
After breakfast there was an array of items for us to make our packed lunch with including smoked lamb and smoked salmon.
As with any trip, the guides can make all the difference and this trip was no exception. Maggie and Milla, both experienced hikers, added expert knowledge and humour plus a firm commitment to ensure our comfort and safety.
The free day in Reykjavik (one and half in my case thanks to a later flight time) enabled a number of us to go whale watching and tour this really interesting city whose people could not have been more friendly and helpful.
Don’t miss a visit to the beautiful Hallgrimskirkja church with its five hundred pipe organ nor the lift up to the viewing gallery.
It also enabled me to dine out at the wonderful Laekjarbrekka classic Icelandic restaurant which I highly recommend. Do try the Icelandic feast, the starter includes 90 day rotted shark served in a sealed jar with the recommendation that you eat it last!!!!!!
There is so much to see that a second visit is essential.
