Stunning scenery and culturally fascinating
Shivling and the Source of the Ganges
This is a wonderful short trekking holiday - the trekking days are short so there is plenty of time to take photographs along the way and for rest and relaxation. The altitude gain is serious starting at 3000m and gaining altitude to 4500m over just three days so this is a factor if you are anxious about altitude sickness. The paths are very good and there is only one short section of steep ascent up to the high camp at Tapovan where we spent two nights right among magnificent mountain scenery l ooking up at Shivling, There is the added interest of the numbers of Indian pilgrims making their way to the source of the Ganges and the brightly coloured orange robed holy men with wild hair and interesting smoking materials that make their way up to the source of the Ganges and some little shrines to Shiva along the way. The trip itinerary is not entirely accurate so treat as guidance only. The use of the hotel Broadway on arrival in Delhi is a step in the wrong direction - a deeply depressing place and a poor start to a holiday. The room had all the comfort and ambience of a prison cell in a third world country. At least it had a decent restaurant. Bhim from Rimo expeditions was a terrific trek leader and his support team were excellent all round.

KE Adventure reply

We are delighted that you have had another ‘wonderful’ holiday with KE. As you know, although we have a long history in this part of India, yours was the first group to complete this particular itinerary. Overall, we are very pleased with the way the holiday ran, but we will be making some minor adjustments arising out of the feedback we have received from clients and from your tour leader, Bhim Lama.

Fantastic variety and first-class guiding.
Ecuador's Avenue of the Volcanoes
From the moment we bonded as a 'team', through to our farewell meal, the whole experience was a delight. This was aided to no small extent by the wit, humour and knowledge of our guide, Carlos. He forged a family atmosphere amongst the disparate group of 11 trekkers whereby nobody cared who they trekked beside or sat beside at dinner. The variety of the programme was unexpected, though the variety of the weather was as expected - hot n'sunny through to cooler misty drizzle. So go prepared for the full range of climate. Amongst all the great treks were cultural experiences in the towns we visited plus train rides to remember and zip wires to revisit in nightmares!

Close to Shivling
Shivling and the Source of the Ganges

Excellent short trek. Very, very cold on two nights just below 15,000, Much too cold to enjoy company in mess tent. Dinner 6.30 and then tuck up in sleeping bag. Even with gloves on much too cold to read! Some of the lodge accommodation not so good. Would have been nice to have working water heaters.

Hiking Away from the Crowds
Wanting to hike in beautiful mountain scenery away from the crowds then Bosnia-Herzegovina is for you. Steep in places but leading to far reaching views. Really only those you meet are local shepherds and their dogs. Benjamin, the local leader, couldn't have done more to welcome you to his fascinating country. The snacks and lunches provided were full of variety and plentiful. To add to all that throw in the history and culture of the country and time in the cities of Mostar and Sarajevo. A very good trip in an area of the world that has so much to offer.

A fantastic family holiday with perfect blend of wildlife and adventure
Sri Lanka Family Island Explorer

Thoroughly enjoyable experience. The range of places we visited, mix of activity and wildlife, culture and company made for a really lovely holiday. We would definitely consider a KE adventure holiday in the future.

Bumpy Ride But Great Vacation
Bhutan - The Last Himalayan Kingdom
We were fortunate to have an extremely talented driver, and a wonderful guide. The places we went to, and I mean all of them, were amazing, with breathtaking views on the way. Some of the accommodations were actually above our expectations which was nice. The down side of the trip was the ride. While you have no control over the road, which is being redeveloped, you do have some control over the vehicle used. We were not provided with a suitable vehicle for the ride. That is really my only compl aint. Everything else was great.

KE Adventure reply

Thank you for your review Michael. We are pleased that you enjoyed the holiday in Bhutan. We are sorry about the bumpy ride in places where the road is being developed. The vehicle used for your group was a new Toyota Hiace minibus and while we agree that a 4X4 or off-road vehicle would have been better for the sections of road being developed, it would have made for a less comfortable ride for the remainder of the journey.

Spectacular and informative - Ismet is one of KEs best guides
Trek the High Taurus Mountains and Cappadocia
To be honest I had not read the full itinerary before joining this holiday. It was a real delight though and made all the better by the care and attention given by Ismet. The trekking days were well thought out and paced perfectly (I am slow!). Alternatives were given to those that needed it. The food on trip was fresh and delicious and the cooks were great at catering for us veggies and a vegan in the group. If you are considering going it is worth knowing that there are 'showers' at each of the campsites. These are cold water but all the more refreshing. You will be drinking mountain spring water - no treatment of it was necessary. Although ankle support from your boots is a sensible choice I am used to trekking and used my Salamon trainers (proper mountain ones can't think of their name) and they were fine. The weather is quickly changeable. You may think hot weather it is Turkey but we also had a little rain, high winds and freezing temps at night. Check out what is happening with the moon before going...well worth watching the clear night skies. Pack light...the tents are not large, especially if you are sharing. They do provide 'mattresses' but these were much more comfortable with a thermarest under them. You can do a balloon ride in Cappadocia but be prepared to pay around 150 Euros for the experience!

Crete was Incredible
Walking the White Mountains of Crete
It was brilliant can it get any better? This is my 5th and possibly the best one yet. The whole trip was so well planned and organised by our excellent Trek Leader Jean (John in French!) plus a top crew of fellow trekkers always the essential final ingredient in the KE cake! The whole thing so well balanced with every day so different - up a huge mountain - down a giant gorge ending in a swim in the warm blue sea - next a day off on the same beach in a tiny quiet village - then coastal walk plus best lunch ever anywhere in such a remote and perfect setting - brilliant final hotel for three nights - "private" beach, super food and service top class and so friendly - up another mountain even higher plus ride on back of goat trucks to get there - yet another gorge and another top lunch too - and boat taxi at a sensible time to meet our bus back to airport. Almost forgot wall to wall sunshine in October - beat that a KE classic - bring on next year but where to next???!!!

Great, tough mountain bike ride
Santiago de Compostela by Bike

Great trip, varied riding conditions mostly off road (80 / 20) and varied landscape from mountains to plains to vineyards. Don't underestimate the difficulty of the ride generally between 60 - 80 miles per day and the weather can change very quickly as it did for us making for hard miles. Both leaders, Alfonso on the bike and Chemie driving were fantastic very knowledgeable and always on hand to help, can't fault them in any way.

We enjoyed our holiday immensely
Botswana Wildside Lodge Safari
With regard to the wildlife the holiday exceeded our expectations in every way. We saw several Rhino at the Khama wildlife reserve. Masses of Elephant, Buffalo and Hippo and several Lion and Leopard at close range as well as many species of antelope etc and also Wild Dog which are now very rare. The trip was also a paradise for birders. Our South African guides were immensely knowledgeable and Grace in particular was an excellent cook who produced tasty food which most of us preferred to the mea ls we took in the restaurants in the lodges. The trip into the Okavango by canoe was also a highlight. A slight downside was the lodges mostly produced buffet meals at a fixed price without the option of going a la carte. This is fine if you are a big eater and like whats provided. We would have preferred to be able to choose what and how much to eat from the menu. Where we were able to do this the food was good. The local guides for each national park and the Chobe River trip were very good and helpful in spotting and identifying animals and birds. You have to be prepared to put up with a few long days on the road which is understandable considering the distances involved. Early starts are also essential for game drives avoiding the heat of the day when animals are less active. The dates of our trip corresponded with a time when the bush was less leafy enabling us to observe animal much more easily but despite it being the dry season Victoria Falls was still an amazing sight. All in all a great trip. Roger and Di Simmons.

Fantastic experience!
Walking the White Mountains of Crete
This was an excellent trip, as it was my first KE experience I wasn't sure what to expect but the hospitality of our group leader was excellent. We were met straight from the plane in Chania, and taken to our first hotel. ALL aspects of the travel arrangements were spot on. Our bags were ALWAYS waiting for us when we were moving from one accommodation to another. ALL the food that was provided was top quality, traditional greek food, and mainly all locally sourced also. Our guide was extrem ely welcoming and had plenty of local knowledge, so anything we asked him about was answered to a high standard giving us full and in depth history of the area. The hotels were fab and they all were in great locations. The weather was fantastic; hot, sunny, and dry every day. The planning of the trip was great, everything was faultless from day one to us getting on the returning plane back to England. I will DEFINIETLY be using KE Adventure again, and will most likely be returning to do the White Mountains of Crete at another time in the year so I can experience it in the spring time.

A wonderful weeks walking holiday
La Gomera - Jewel of the Canaries - Private Bone
Great weeks walking. The diverse landscape was amazing, sub tropical Laurel forests one minute and then dry arid areas the next, mountains and beaches. The hotels are of a good standard and all ( except one) had a restaurant, this was not an issue as there are many places to eat and drink. The weather was good only rained one day and that was the day we were in the forest so we were going to get wet anyway. It can get very warm and humid whilst you are walking. The views on the last day were abs olutely stunning from the top of the island. Our guide was brilliant, he varied the route slightly from the itinerary to show us places of interest that we would otherwise of missed. The tour of and lunch in the vineyard (not on the itinary) was great. Would recommend this trip, just make sure you are fit. This is an island with very little flat areas so most of the walking is either up or down hill.

Great hikes
Walking the Albanian Alps

Albania is wonderful. It was like hiking in the Tetons and Yosemite with no one around. The group was large at 15 with only one guide. I think another guide was needed. The hikes were tough. The rating should be a 6 at least. I think the routing on the first day should be rearranged to something else. Good food but no snacks available. The lodging was basic and with 15 people a little small for that big of a group. Albania is a great destination and I would like to go back and hike other trails.

By Jane from BUENA VISTA | 08 October 2015

KE Adventure reply

We are pleased you enjoyed your holiday. We agree with you that Albania offers wonderful hiking in genuine wild mountain country. It is a relatively new destination for adventure travel and as such, the choice of accommodation in the mountains is still limited. Most of our groups enjoy their stay with local families and we hope the big hotels do not move in here anytime soon.

Bosnia is a must see
I loved this trip. The food was amazing. The accomodations were fine. The hikes were great. I do think this trip should be rated at least a 6. The exposure is great. If anyone is afraid of exposure this is not the trip for them. The climb of Mt Maglic was 9 plus hours. Some fifth class climbing and very steep with a very steep down that took over 5 hours. The guide Benjamin was terrific. Very upbeat, organized. Always had tons of snacks and very helpful in the difficult parts. Lots of history in Bosnia and there was no one on the trails. A great trip.

Incredible fun, but lucky with the weather!
Chamonix Alpine Mountaineering Week
I had a brilliant time on the course. I'm an experienced climber so the first day of learning was quite easy for me but I still learnt a couple of new techniques.
Glacier travel and small amounts of ice climbing was wonderful, such a beautiful environment!
The next couple of days had very poor weather and although the guides tried their best to keep us occupied we did learn some skills, one of the days was spent entirely at the chalet and only half the day was spent learning
rope skills.
The weather was too poor to allow us to ascend to a mountain hut to stay the night in, but thankfully it cleared a bit for the final day, allowing us to go up and climb the stunning cosmique arete. It was an incredibly exhilarating day. Though I can't help but think if the weather had been too bad for us to climb on the final day, I would have left feeling quite disappointed.

Best trek I have ever done.
Cordillera Huayhuash Circuit
This was a simply amazing trip. I have wanted to do the Huayhuash trek for a long time and it lived up to every expectation I had. The mountain scenery is unparalleled - every pass (12 in total) we crossed opened up new stunning vistas and great views of the Huayhuash peaks. Val and the crew were excellent at helping the whole group on what wasn't an easy trek physically and the altitude whilst tough made the achievement all the greater! I'd recommend this to anyone who is a confident hill walker and used to extended time under canvas.
