An incredible experience from the Andes to the Amazon
Inca Trail to Machu Picchu
A stress free booking experience and provided with all the information needed before departure.
Holiday worked seamlessly with transfer and excellent selection of companies and hotels in Peru. During our trek it was just us two with a team of guides, porters and chefs making it a private tour of the Inka trail which we certainly didn't expect and was fabulous, on talking to the guide the max group size is 6 so always small meaning the walk can be tailored to what you want to see. T
he food was excellent especially considered it was cook on a camping stove 3000M above sea level and my allergies were catered for perfectly and even made me a birthday cake at 3600M without an oven! The staff we encountered couldn't have been more friendly and helpful, especially in assisting will recovery of my bag which was lost on route to Peru by the airline, we would have struggled without them considering our poor Spanish. The 5 day Inka trail rather than the 4 means you get to see Macchu Pichu when you are recovered and not half asleep meaning you can pay full attention to the tour and additionally means you don't encounter a lot of the big groups on the trail itself.
We also did the amazon extension, i was dubious about flying mid holiday but it was only 30 minutes and the adventure began on arrival so you didn't feel like you had lost a day of your holiday. We had 2 boats trips and a trek to the lodge with drinks on arrival and a night walk. The staff at the lodge were friendly and food excellent. The guides were very knowledgeable and were happy to tailor activities to your preference. We saw a wide range of animals even though there was a cold spell. Animals we saw included black caymens, monkeys, turtles, insects, giant river otters and many birds.
Over all a brilliant experience, only advice i have if doing this trip is pack luggage in two sections - clothes for Inca trail and clothes for Amazon as ours were all slightly smelly by the time we arrived in the Amazon and we didn't do laundry although facilities are available in Cusco with a 2 hour turnaround, also take binoculars.
Thanks for a brilliant adventure.

ACO review from Jonathan Brine
Aconcagua Ascent
My most enjoyed moment was summiting, of course, and sleeping for 13 hours after summiting! The general organisation on the mountain for all the basic things such as food and accomodation etc. was of such a high standard that we were able to relax and enjoy the trek with no additional concerns.

I chose KE because of the company's experience of Aconcagua, the design of the itinerary with plenty of acclimatisation time and those extra days for summiting.
< br />Only a small detail, but I would advise trekking poles to be essential equipment. I'm not a regular user of poles but from base camp to the summit they were a particularly important part of my success.

Highly enjoyable walking hill climbing and wildlife / landscape viewing holiday
The Best of Borneo and Mount Kinabalu
The holiday was extremely enjoyable. The cave viewing and river safaris being exceptional. I anticipated the cave viewing would be enjoyable but has a definite "Wow" factor.
The Pinnacles climb is only for the fit as not only is it very steep, it has to be climbed at a reasonably quick pace to reach the viewpoint before the clouds roll in. I underestimated it and had to turn round. The Mt Kinabula climb was a strenuous but not a exceptionally hard climb at a steady rate. I foun
d the descent on steep broken ground and interminable steps, which seemed to go on and on, exterely hard on the thighs.
Overall a very enjoyable holiday, which I would thoroughly recommend.

A really relaxing gentle walking holiday
Coastal Trails of Gozo
This is a really lovely gentle walking holiday.

The scenery on the circumnavigation of Gozo is surprisingly varied and interesting without involving especially taxing walking. More generally Gozo is a very beautiful little island peppered with some attractive small towns. Victoria is a highlight and a good choice for the free day. It is easily accessible by bus or on foot. The Citadella is a wonderful piece of medieval architecture.

The day trip to Malta works w
ell, although there isn't enough time to do the sights of Mdina and Valetta justice.

Amazing Nepal - a challenging bike ride!
Pokhara to Kathmandu Mountain Biking
We had an amazing action packed trip, started of by white water rafting near Pokhara followed by 9 days of superb X-C mountain biking. Pramod and the Nepalese cook team looked after us exceptionally well and provided a wide range of meals. Nights were warm and days were hot (up to 35C), so definitely no need for any warm kit. The X-C biking included a real mix of jeep track, single track downhill, a few k's of tarmac, the choice was limitless. Wild camping with bathing in the rivers was ju st amazing, the fireflies in the evening were just magic. Cycling through villages that were destroyed by the earthquake 12 mounts ago was a humbling experience, the local always greeted us with the customary greetings and welcome. A must-do adventure.

An excellent holiday.
Guatemala's Magnificent Seven

I have real problems with the ke website and brochure. What is the point of a brochure that doesn't! Detail holidays? What bright spark thought that up? Why doesn't the website allow seamless searching? All of which is a pity as our holiday to Guatemala was one one the best we have been on. Great guides, great itinerary, a holiday to remember. Worst part was transiting through Houston. Would recommend a non-us flight.

KE Adventure reply

Thank you for your review and we are glad that you enjoyed your experience, climbing Guatemala's magnificent seven volcanoes. We are proud of our new-look brochure which is full of interesting stories and inspiring images from our own staff and leaders who know the countries we visit like no-one else. Brochures which are nothing more than a catalogue of trips more easily found online, are no longer as useful as they once were and this was the overwhelming feeling of our clients from our survey conducted in May 2015. We will continue to improve our search facility to make it as easy as possible for you to find your perfect trip every time and we are happy to read that your latest holiday with us was such a success.

Great cycling!
Road Cycle Tour of Toubkal

As was the case with our Catalonia trip, our trip to Morocco was fantastic. Ben Walker and Ahmid are highly professional and sociable guides. Most of us rented bikes and the bike store was top notch. We had brand new Cannondales. The trip itself was amazing. The High Atlas are beautiful, and the contrast between the High Atlas and the desert is stunning. I highly recommend this tour.

Wonderful trek in the mountains of Morroco
Peaks and Valleys of Jebel Sirwa - Morocco
Fascinating trip to a mountainous region to the south of the Atlas. The walk was very varied, from walks through villages to scrambling up mountain peaks. Fabulous views, amazing scenery and a great crew and guide. We thoroughly enjoyed ourselves.
We walked for around 6-8 hours a day. Despite some quite rough sections and loose scree, the walking seemed quite easy. Our guide paced it very well to suit the group and we always had time to look at points of interest and, of course, ha
ve a lovely lunch!!

Fantastic trip. Stunning scenery. Remote and relatively untouched by tourists
Shey Gompa and Inner Dolpo
This remote region of Nepal is spectacular. The terrain is varied and provides much contrast, from alpine forests, to high passes above tree line, to dry, tibetan high-plateau. We saw only 3 or 4 other trekking groups. Culture is relatively uncorrupted by contact with westerners, esp compared to Annapurna and Everest regions.

Ben Walker was an excellent guide. Cheerful, fun, and very attentive to needs of the group and staff.

Highly recommended!

A superb experience in a fascinating country
Buena Vista Cuba
BVC is an excellent trip introducing visitors to Cuba. This is a Caribbean island which is set to change in quite a major way in the coming years. Go now, while it's still very authentic.

The accommodation on this trip surpassed our expectations - particularly the time spent in Vinales and the Playa Ancon hotel (with all-inclusive being a bonus!). Also, the food is much better than the trip notes suggests: there is quite a lot of choice (difficult, though, if you are not a
meat-eater) and the service is friendly. Some people may be a little put off by the cuts of meat provided, or with the lack of fresh fruit and vegetables. What has to be remembered is that what you often eat in Cuba is what is in season - so we got a lot of pineapple but no coconut, for example! Go at a different time of year and you'll likely get beautiful mangoes and avocados.

This trip involves quite a lot of moving around but the roads are pretty good and the transport was fine (but there were only 4 of us so there was plenty of room to spread out). Our guide, Amauris, was friendly and the driver, Alfredo, very sweet. It's worth noting that not all activities in the trip notes are definite. For example, we didn't get to go on a Russian lorry drive and the optional salsa lesson was never offered. Cuba works quite differently to other countries and things do change at last minute. As long as you're prepared to accept this and go with the flow, you'll have a super time!

All in all, this was a great trip. Go with an open mind and soak up everything this country has to offer you. Don't be put off by some standards you might not get in the developed world - having said this, many places we visited were as good as, if not better than, what we would find in the UK. And make sure you enjoy the mojitos: they're good!

amazing trip
Inca Trail and Machu Picchu - Private Kalla Group

The Inca Trail is truly a once in lifetime experience. KE puts together a splendid tour which is organised extremely well - our guides Ruben and Louise went out of their way to make trip seamless and amazingly special, they are extremely knowledgable and nothing was too much trouble.

the hike itself is not too difficult although it is harder to breathe at the high alititude. despite this the whole group managed well.

i would highly this if you are looking for an adventure holiday

Discover Vietnam from south to north on a bike - an amazing experience
Cycle Saigon to Hanoi - Vietnam South to North
Before I left, I knew that I was going to like it .... I actually loved it ! This was my first cycling holiday, and I will no doubts have many more holidays similar to this (although I think it is going to be difficult to ever be as good as that one !). Cycling is a great way to discover a country, and has been really good to cover the full length of Vietnam from south to north, on back roads, enabling us to have an insight of the authentic life of the Vietnamese people. I will always remember t he little kids voices screaming "hello" from the back of their houses as we were passing by, or the smiles on the people faces when we were going through countryside villages. This trip is quite challenging and you should come prepared to some serious cycling in very hot temperatures - or you always have the option of the air conditioned van ;-) ! The trip is very well balanced, with the longer and more challenging rides at the beginning, easing up as the time goes when you become a little bit tired. The days off the bike are welcomed and ideally located too. Everything is done for you to enjoy the experience and well thought - from the choice of the hotels, the transports (like taking a plane from Hanoi to Dalat to avoid wasting too much time in the van) and the food your eating, the days were you are free for your dinner so you can have western food for example. There is a good balance between time on the bike and time to rest and the itinerary is great to be challenging but yet achievable to enjoy like a holiday. Last but not least, our guide Tuan was absolutely top star. He is a wealth of knowledge and was able to answer all our questions with humour and authenticity. He has been able to adapt to our small number and our expectations. He proposed us slight changes to the programme to be able to squeeze more fun in - which was greatly appreciated. He seemed truly and honestly pleased to show us his country and opened up on every subject. The driver in the south - Djun was great too, always waiting for us at the next stop with our favourite drink or fruit (which was different for all of us !). In summary, I greatly appreciated : - the format of a cycling holiday that was perfectly planned - the way it was organised : not too much, but not too few, with enough rest but also action, and the possibility to see the main cultural highlights - the tour guide - the comfort of the hotels - the great food : very varied from street food to high end restaurants I can only recommend it to anyone willing to see Vietnam for the first time off the beaten tracks, associating sport with cultural discovery :-)

Fantastic. We'll run and superbly managed by Miguel our local guide.
Camino de Santiago Trek
A fantastic adventure. The group was brilliant and Miguel our guide was superb. It really was like walking with life long friends. Despite the weather which cannot be guaranteed each step of the way was so enjoyable.
All meals at each stop over were superb. The accommodation was also great at each stop. Only one slight downside was at our next gets stay at the Pension de Rei in Palas de Rei, the bedrooms as well as the entire building were so so cold. All of us found this to be the case
. The staff did turn up the heating but I spite of that a cold night was had by all.
Overall I would recommend this trek.
Well managed and run.
This being my second trek with KE I would have no hesitation in also recommending KE as a company to book an adventure with.

Thank you

A really enjoyable MtB trip and a great way to experience life in rural Nepal
Pokhara to Kathmandu Mountain Biking
This was a 9 day sustained MtB journey with overnight camping so be prepared for a couple of tough days towards the end of the trip.

It was hot and humid in March/April so we didn't need any warm clothing, even at night. The humidity meant misty weather. We only saw the Himalayas on one day, on the transfer day to Pokhara, but that was a great sight. The trail-side scenery and rural life is very varied and continuously interesting.

The aftermath of last yea
r's earthquake is evident in the Gorkha region but it was amazing to see how resilient and cheerful the villagers were. They locals are just so open and friendly despite having very hard lives (particularly the women). I found it quite humbling and would encourage others to go to Nepal and help to restore the levels of tourist spending.

Our group was four riders and five support staff. It was extremely well supported by Katmandu-based Mountain Expeditions. Their bike guide, Pramod, is a top cyclist and all-round great chap. The chef and camping team were very good too.

Thoroughly recommended.
