Stunning views and great food

One Week Mount Toubkal Trek

The views are stunning in all directions from the trekking path. The journeys through the Berber villages were a step back in time. The cooking in the field was to a high standard and very hygienic. The camps were well organised by the efficient porters. The guide was very knowledgeable and spoke excellent English. The view from the top of mount Toubkal is special, note that trekking to 4,167m via the high passes requires fitness and determination. The city of Marrakech provides contrast with a hive of activity and interest.

Berber Magic

On Foot from The Atlas to The Atlantic

We had a small group,and FYI we knew each other which was even better. Our guide,Omar,was awesome and kind and very accommodating to all of our needs and requests. He made us feel energetic and happy with his positive attitude towards the upcoming day, shukran Omar. The food was delicious and very traditional to the region, Habib, our sweet cook, made dishes appear in all the right places at all the right times. Not to mention "Tea Time", there is nothing like real Berber Whiskey. The muleteers and camel drivers worked tirelessly on setting up and breaking down always with a smile.. The scenery was diverse, the valleys were vast and the mountain tops were worthy of the effort. The local people were kind and hospitable, and the gites made you truly feel that you were in Morocco. The Atlantic walks on the deserted beaches were memorable, and the Riad Inna in Essaouira was glorious, run by a lovely couple. If I were to change anything it would be the group Hotel in Marrakech, it would have been so much more enjoyable if we could have stayed in a smaller but more authentic hotel/riad to fully inhale the atmosphere that I was looking forward to capture in Marrakech!

More challenging then expected but exilerating experience not to be missed

Wow what a trip, great views and experience. The trip was extremely well organised the guides were VERY Knowledgeable and caring the whole team worked very hard. It was a delight to be met at the airport and we were guided through every step of the journey. Don't forget that you are expected to tip and so make provision for that you will perhaps need a bit more money than is suggested, you tip the chefs, kitchen people, muleteers, and guides separately, it cost us twice as was suggested, it was optional however but well deserved on their part. The guides can be tipped in $ but the muleteers need to be tipped in Solos. The food was excellent and we were woken with coca tea and a bowl of hot water then a good breakfast, at lunch a 4 course meal, then tea at about 5.00pm then dinner at 7.00ish of 2 coursed. Always varied and ALWAYS GOOD. Also snacks were provided for on route as well. Water was boiled and wholesome not a problem. camp sites are ok however be prepared for a variety of toilet experiences and cold shower en route this can vary but are available. Some toilets on the journey when you come across them cost 1 solo. Our guides on the track were Ruben and Moses were excellent and I can recommend that they are a pleasure to be lead by. Some (Most) Mornings are a 5:00 am start so be prepared although you do go to bed early. USE bug spray and or DEET products there are biters out there which will give you some nasty itches, best avoided if possible. If you have an issue on the trip they follow up with a horse which you can make use of if needed on most sections (Named Justin - just in case :-) ) As a final note This is a great trip and well worth doing and experiencing however be aware that you are at a high altitude 4660 metres at the highest pass and usually above 3000 metres so best to take some medication with you just in case visit your travel clinic - ALSO BE PREPARED train and walk some hills / mountains before you go this is a tough trip, day 2 is particularly tough. Enjoy and have fun. We also took an extension to the Jungle as well which was great and very relaxing, again well organised and well planned with a guide all the way. Great to relax to.

An exciting week of trekking/climbing in a stunning region of the Alps.

Italian Summit Climber

The trek began from the relatively quiet Staffal (but which lies in an epic setting) at the end of the valley. After making our way to the glacier dome over a couple of days we put on our kit for the ascents of the peaks, completing five of the seven. The conditions were good most days with excellent views and a good deal of sunny weather as hoped; the guides were more than helpful with advice and taking a real interest in our kit and previous experience, giving a sense of security. All the refu ges were a delight to stay at - not to mention the excitement felt given their incredible situation! - with warm hospitality and great food. At the end we were left wishing that the adventure could continue for a few more days!

Amazing walking, stunning scenery, excellent food!

Walking Wild Tuscany

This walking holiday is perfect for walkers who want more than a stroll in the park but don't want the more challenging, roughing it type of walking. My advice would be to read the walking notes carefully, the information is all there and accurate. Some of the walks are long, hard and challenging but achievable for the fit and able. There is a couple of scrambling sections and ridge walking. The scenery is stunning as a very mountainous region (not your typical rolling hills and cypress tre es associated with Tuscany). We had poor weather all week with only one sunny dry day, one day's walking was cancelled as extremely poor weather with low visibility. The remaining days were changeable so be prepared with wet weather gear. The food is outstanding and a highlight both at lunch time on the mountain and in the evenings. I was a single traveller and found the mix of people good. There were 11 walkers, 3 couples and 5 single travellers so didn't feel left out. The accommodation is very good and quite remote, once you are there you are there! Trip into Lucca on free day was perfect. The old city is quite compact and just the right size for a day visit. We went as a group by train and were provided with all the information we needed making it an easy option. The hosting and guiding was excellent. Most of us felt challenged by some of the walking which meant we also felt very achieved at the end of a great day's walk. I really loved this holiday and would certainly look at something similar again.

Fantastic scenery, good walks, food & great weather

Sacred Summits of Olympus and Meteora

What a fantastic weeks holiday. The town of Kastraki where we stayed the first 2 nights is beautiful & quiet, plenty of places to go for walks & plenty of places to eat in the evenings. The guesthouse we stayed is very nice, friendly & perfectly placed. The meteor Monasteries which sit on top of rocks are amazing. We visited 2 of them, only €2 entry, men can wear shorts & t-shirts, ladies have to wear a wrap around there legs, these are free at the entrance. The views from the Monasteries are spectacular & the inside of them are very interesting. The walks to them are steep in places with loose rock but very manageable. The morning walk before we leave is mainly on the steep road then goes in to woods. At the top again views are fantastic. The journey to Litochoro is about 2 1/2 hours, lunch was down by the beach. Our next guesthouse is again fantastic, the walk to the restaurant is about 15 mins & the food is plentiful. The start of the trek upto the 1st hut on Mt Olympus is about 3 hours mainly in the trees can be quite steep in places with loose rock. The hut is ok, you stay in dorms, the food is good & does get very busy. If weather is clear you will get a beautiful view of the sunrise. The trip to the top of Mt Olympus took good 3 to 4hours with some very steep parts again with loose rock, but worth it when you reach the 1st summit. From here you can take a path which is more difficult but doable & again worth it. The walk to the next hut is about 3 hours. This hut is a lot smaller with sleeping up stairs, food again is good, however the toilet here is outside & a short walk. The walk back to the 1st hut is about 3 hours as the path quite exposed , plenty loose rock, uneven steps, but is very doable. The walk back down to where we left the van is the same way we came up. From the van their is a walk back to the guesthouse which is about 6 miles & can be done in just over 3 hours at good pace, despise the up & down in high heat. Overall i would recommend this holiday.

Beautiful Balkans

High Peaks of the Balkans

Have done previous trips with KE and this was another highly enjoyable adventure. Although the trek is relatively short, it was none the less somewhat challenging, with four long days of walking. Our local guide, Ardit, was excellent, taking great care of us all and very knowledgeable. To summit the three peaks required no technical ability, just plenty of stamina, especially in the heat we encountered in August. Overall the accommodation and food were very good, with the hotel in Kosovo being o f high standard. Albania was a nice country to visit, with lovely scenery and friendly people. Go soon before it becomes too touristy. Would highly recommend this trip.

Fabulous holiday with a bit of everything

Trek Malawi's Mount Mulanje & South Luangwa

I thoroughly enjoyed this trip to Malawi and Zambia. With its winning combination of wildlife safaris, hiking and then chill out time at Lake Malawi at the end, it was hard not to love it. Everything was proportioned right e.g enough time with the wildlife, and enough time hiking and so on. The guide was very professional and knowledgeable, and the mountain guides/trekking team, superb. Malawian people are lovely, and like to give great service. In terms of tips for other travellers, I'd sa y that it might be worth taking a couple extra layers over and above what they put on the kit list as it can get a bit cold on the mountain. Also, gloves for the summit day - you're scrambling practically all the way up and the rock sort of grates your hands after a while.

Very tough, but rewarding

Geneva to Nice Road Cycle

Well organised trip. Paul Morgan and Amanda Davenport did a very good job. Paul was endlessly helpful and Amanda was obviously a very experienced cyclist. Weather made it very tough on days 2,3 and 4, but thereafter the picnics by the side of the road were enjoyable. Only things that detracted from the trip - not being to bring bike in a hard case, the breakfasts were a bit weak on some mornings (given that we were regularly using over 2,000 calories) and the cycle 7km up the hill to Auron at th e end of Day 7 seemed an un-necessary burden on already tired legs. Good group of fellow cyclists who all all kept smiling throughout. PS Please can you email me a copy of the Day 3 Route Map - I saved all the rest from the trip but have lost Day 3. Derek McKenzie

Choquequirao to Machu Picchu

Absolutely amazing trip, if I could give 10 stars I would. Reuben our main guide and Moises are the most lovely and brilliant guides, always smiling and expertly guiding us. They were both so lovely and full of knowledge!! We had the best tour guides!! All the service was unfaultable. The food was just incredible- you find yourself eating a restaurant quality 4 course meal most days. The staff were just absolutely lovey- I still don’t understand how they have the energy to complete the same tr ek before even starting to work, doing literally everything for us. the hot towels and tea every morning and hot water bottles were such extra special little things which made a massive difference to our experience. Although the trek and altitude was hard, it was 10000% worth it, with the feeling of accomplishment and views being breath taking. Bring extra deet though as the mosquitos are particularly annoying and extra money as the food and merchandise in Peru is so hard to resist!!

Wow, what a fantastic holiday on the Amalfi Coast!

Trails of the Amalfi Coast

Wonderful holiday. Great walking amongst fabulous scenery, amazing wild flowers, butterflies, trees, lizards and some beautiful gardens too. Great geology with the trip to Vesuvius and the wonderful limestone of the Amalfi Coast. Our guide, Adriano, was so knowledgeable and nothing was too much trouble as he good humouredly sorted out all our little foibles and problems ; we were privileged to have him as our guide. Our holiday was centred at San Lazaro, so be prepared for some interesting bus j ourneys on the steep and narrow Amalfi Coast road which switchbacks its way up to the limestone plateau where San Lazaro is situated. Also be prepared for lots of steps, both up and down. I have brought home so many happy memories of this really stunningly beautiful holiday.

Great holiday in an interesting place

The Mystics of Papua New Guinea

Papua New Guinea is a very interesting place to visit. The scenery particularly on the Sepik River is very special. We saw Birds of Paradise both in the local zoo and a couple of different places in the wild. The Goroka festival was much better than I expected with a chance to mingle, speak and photograph the dancers. The stay in the village really gave a taste of local life and people were just so friendly. Our guide Martin was really great, very calm and organised and looked after us all very well. The only reason I didn't give 5 stars is because I would have preferred to have a little more walking in the holiday.

Good mixture of walking and exploring

Walking Croatia's Coast & Mountains

We had a lovely guide, Ilyja, and great accommodation throughout this trip. We had a day and a half of torrential rain so missed one of the walks. Some of the National Parks are more touristy than others but overall a beautiful country and a good combination of mixing walking with exploring.
