Tim's Patagonian Adventure

Tim from the KE Office is packing his bags and heading to one of the wildest corners of the planet: Patagonia.

Tim is tackling both the W Trek on the Spires and Ice of Patagonia and the O Trek on The Classic Paine Circuit - both treks named for the shapes of their routes. The W Trek follows the southern edge of Torres del Paine, showcasing its most iconic highlights, while the O Trek loops around the entire Paine Massif. We’ll be following Tim every step of the way, sharing his updates, stories and snapshots from the trail as his adventure unfolds. Then finally, when he is back, we’ll be quizzing him on every unforgettable moment.

Introducing Tim:

While Tim plays a vital role as Head of Operations, he's not always been office based. For many years Tim worked as a tour leader leading KE adventurers in Nepal, up Kilimanjaro and in the Alps. Even while working in the office, he has continued pursuing adventures, from Aconcagua to trekking through Kyrgyzstan. Despite his vast travelling experience, this will be the first time Tim has been to Patagonia.

Live Updates

Tim has been managing to send back intermittent updates from the trail!

It's not just one big holiday. Tim is meeting with our team who manage the ground operations in Patagonia. Every year staff generally spend a week or two checking trips and meeting the ground team to make sure everything is running smoothly.

Countdown to Patagonia: Q&A with Tim

We sat down with Tim before he sets off on his extraordinary Patagonian adventure. From the dramatic peaks to the sweeping glaciers, we asked him what he's most excited to experience, how he thinks Patagonia will compare to other destinations and what he expects his greatest challenge will be.

Patagonia is often referred to as the ‘End of the World’. It is this remoteness combined with jagged granite peaks and glaciers of Patagonia, sights normally reserved for high altitude mountain ranges, that set it apart from other trekking regions I’ve visited. Having trekked extensively in the Greater Ranges, it’ll be great to be amongst glaciers and granite spires without the rigours associated with high altitude!
