Stunningn Delicious and Amazing Sri Lanka
Temples and Tea Trails of Sri Lanka
I have just returned from this trek and I cannot praise our guide - Nuwan - highly enough. He went above and beyond all expectations to ensure everyone had a memorable and fun Sri Lankan experience. Although we had a few days of heavy rain (and leeches) everything was fabulous. Standard of accommodation was excellent and food was delicious. Trekking was limited but we still made the most of what was on offer. Nuwan mixed it all up for us so we had variety, national parks, walks, mountains, beach es, trains, and local experiences. he loves his country very much and now we all love it too. It was a pleasure to have him as our guide.

Excellent all round. Good hotels and food.
Costa Rica Walks and Wildlife

There are two seasons in Costa Rica. The wet and the not so wet. The not so wet starts in December so bring your wellies. Very good trip. Only one let down which was the final hotel in San Jose which was not up to scratch. Bring a camera with a good zoom or telephoto as much of the birdlife in the wild was at a distance. Otherwise a really good trip. Our tour guide Joe went the extra mile and made all the difference. Also our driver Sherman who was with us througout

A tough, but well paced trip with sights that were worth seeing.
Nicaragua's Fire Mountains
The trip was a tough one, but each trek was worth it to see the volcanoes. It was well paced with a mix of hard & easy days. However, I didn't enjoy the days on the 2 days @ the beach & I'm not sure that the others did either. We are not 'beach' people & prefer to be more active. On the treks, the rests were too long. I would have prefered a shorter rest & perhaps more of them. We were all concerned about the tips for the camping crew. We were asked to give $100 each for the 4 crew. This seemed too much.

Thank you for your review. You are right that the beach is not for everyone, however, your comment that the trip was "well paced with a mix of hard and easy days" is exactly what we were aiming for with this holiday. Tough and relaxing! We make recommendations for tipping levels based on our experience of the country but it is an important principal that tips are voluntary, based on actual levels of service, and the amount should always be ultimately determined by you, the client.

Excellent for first timers
Everest and Annapurna Luxury Lodge Trek
Overall the holiday was excellent and we were glad we chose this holiday. The Nepal experience was dramatic, especially the people, porters, villages, guides and pack animals. Not to mention dramatic views of mountains, cliffs and rivers in all directions. The two weeks were not well matched because the first week was quite strenuous being similar to the Everest BC holiday while the second week turned out be much easier 3 to 4 hours walking a day at lower altitudes. We couldn’t help feeling an ti climax during this time. Having said that you have to expect compromise because one of main focus on this holidays is staying in nice lodges which certainly lived up to our expectations. We’d like to try something harder next time.

Rough, tough, and challenging . Well organised very good leadership.
Annapurna Circuit and Annapurna Sanctuary
Felt well taken of by staff inc porters, assistants, and overall leader. Local trek guide painful. Whole outing was made more difficult by very poor accommodation and even worse ablution facilities. Health and hygiene were certainly compromised. The trek underfoot conditions were patchy. Best to avoid the dirty, noisy, dusty "road". Walking from dawn to dusk up 1800m is too much. most of the trekkers suffered from persistent coughs and blocked noses. Walkers need to be made aware of th is. Nepal needs to up its game to retain and indeed attract more trekkers based on my experience

KE Adventure reply

Thank you for your review. We are pleased to know that you felt well taken care of by our local staff and leader. The lodges in the mountains are quite basic given that everything required to build and furnish them has to be carried in for several days on the backs of animals or porters, but they are usually cosy and welcoming and run by the friendliest people you could ever hope to meet. The road connection between Muktinath and Tatopani is dusty but this is what allows us to combine these two classic treks in one holiday.

A cultural taster of Sri Lanka travelling by bus and with some walking
Temples and Tea Trails of Sri Lanka
Excellent, informative guide, Nuwan Athapattu, who coped admirably with a diverse group of 16, and resourceful when confronted with the apparent shortcomings of Walkers Tours that had failed to book one hotel. Also he was flexible with the schedule given the adverse weather conditions and mixed abilities of the group. Plus he covered for what seemed a lack of funding by Walkers Tours for the Yala National Park safari. Future travelers need to take note of the itinerary that some days there is a lot of coach travel. Food excellent as was most accommodation.

Excellent taste of the Annapurna Region!
Annapurna Circuit and Annapurna Sanctuary
The Annapurna Circuit and Sanctuary was a great trek, with some fantastic highlights such as; crossing the Thorong La pass, Poon Hill and the Annapurna Sanctuary. The trip was well organised from a UK point of view and communication was good which meant you felt at ease. From being picked up on arrival day, to being dropped off on departure day the trip was memorable and enjoyable. The local staff organised the trek excellently, meaning you were at ease for the whole trek. The staff were knowled geable and felt like you could approach them about anything. I would suggest if your travelling from the UK, send for your Visa prior to travel, it just stops a lot of delays and confusion when you get to the airport. There were a few flights that came in at once and people were waiting ages. The scenery on the trek was simply stunning. The people are friendly. This was my second trip to Nepal and I will certainly be going back. My initial thought was that 3 weeks would be too long, but the trek is varied and interesting and keeps you hooked throughout. Food and accommodation was fine, just have plenty dhal bat! Make sure you are well prepared as there are some long days, with good ascents and alot of steps! The 2 long jeep transfers were fine, albeit a little uncomfortable, quite funny actually, adds to the experience. If you want to see the best parts of the Annapurna region do not hesitate to go on this trip.

Best way to see Vietnam
Hanoi to Hue on the Ho Chi Minh Highway
If you want to see the side of Vietnam that is free of tourists and hassle, this is the trip for you. We had nine beautiful days of cycling through rice paddies, gorgeous limestone mountains, and little villages. The weather was sometimes a challenge - we had a few days of typhoon-type rains, and be prepared for some pretty intense heat. But the terrain isn't too difficult (mostly rolling hills) and of course the support vehicle is always there with water and AC. My suggestions to future tr avellers - bring quick-drying clothes and lots of sunscreen. And while the food was amazing (kept beating my expectations) the accommodations were a little more basic than expected. Overall, another great KE trip.

Fantastic Trip
Mount Toubkal in Winter
A fantastic trip hiking in the Atlas Mountains and discovering Marrakech. Although we didn't get any snow while on Toubkal, it didn't detract from the overall experience. Everything was extremely well organised and ran like clockwork. Our guides, Hassan and Omar, were brilliant. They looked after us very well while being friendly, fun and informative. The food was brilliant and we never went hungry. Morocco is a beautiful country with friendly people, I couldn't recommend this tri p enough and I can't wait to go back to Morocco!

Not only a fantastic trip to Toukbal but new friends and fun!!!
Mount Toubkal in Winter
In the last 4 years my wife and myself (both in our 50's) have trekked to Everest Base Camp, Annetto in the Pyrenees and Aconcagua in Argentina but for us this trip with KE to Toukbal has been our favourite. Travelling on a trip like this is all about being with a group of people you get on with and we had so much fun and everyone got on so well. Also our guides were fantastic who not only looked after us but also provided us with the local knowledge making this a great history lesson. And the weather was perfect for us to make the summit. What can I say.....We loved this trip and are now looking at something for next year with KE.....But I must admit the best thing was getting home and having a hot bath with a beer and feeling happy we had achieved something :-)

Fantastic Trek!
Patagonia - The Classic Paine Circuit
Superb trek set in stunning surround! It is not a long trek being only 7 days but the days themselves entailed walking of up to 11 hours to include plenty of time for photos and lunch breaks. A good level of fitness is required as is the ability to walk at a reasonable pace on a daily basis in order to reach the camp sites at a reasonable time. If you have walked in the Alps or done significant mountains in the UK this is the trek for you. Our trek leaders Diego, and Tomaz, were fantastic too wi th a lot of knowledge to impart to the group on a wide variety of subjects. Camp sites were mainly good and the Eco Camp positively luxurious! It’s well worth arriving a day early and allowing time to visit the Puerto Moreno glacier as its stunning - not sure why it is not incorporated in the holiday?

Everest Base Camp Trek

For a trip in November take plenty of light warm clothing eg tee shirts and vests, and socks . Tinned meat and fish would be great as a veggie diet has its limitations the higher you go. Believe me ,,, the effort and exertion is very much worth it .

Wonderful Himalayan trekking in an unspoilt part of the country
Ganesh Himal Panorama Trek
This is the best trek in Nepal that I’ve been on for a long time. The Ganesh Himal is a beautiful area with a lot of variety from traditional villages to snowy peaks. We were fortunate to have perfect weather throughout and the views of the mountain ranges were superb. Everything ran smoothly-we had an excellent crew and guide (Ricki) who looked after us all very well. There are some very steep ascents & descents but there was plenty of time each day to walk at your own pace. We were a large group of 17 including Kit from KE and we all got on very well together which certainly added to the enjoyment of the trek.

A wonderful challenging road cycle trip through amazing ,varied desert landscape
Road Cycle Tour of Toubkal
This trip was certainly cycling -wise tougher than I expected at grade 6. Having done the Guatemala MB ride at grade 11 i would probably have rated this as a grade 8 as there were some long climbs, the penultimate day involved a 3 hour ride to the road summit at 2100m.. The local guide Hameed was superb ..a very knowledgeable Berber chap with excellent english and he produced some lovely picnic lunches. Shorts weather by day when the sun was out but warm clothes needed once the sun has gone down ..A down jacket or gilet ideal to take with you . The hired bikes were were excellent and the road surface was brilliant on most days but some potholes on the older roads. The tour took us to some interesting places away from the more touristy Marrakesh..The local people were very welcoming and cycle friendly! The food was wonderful ..tagines most nights..Most hotels don't have alcohol available so we bought some lovely Moroccan red to take with us in the van for the evenings. A wonderful trip with a full on cycling itinnery through some wonderful ,varied desert scenery.. I would thoroughly recommend this trip!

A good and challenging walking holiday
Ecuador's Avenue of the Volcanoes
This was my second visit to Equador but the trek did not cover any of the same areas I had visited before. I enjoyed the trek very much and, in spite of the limited views on some days becasue of cloud, was impressed by the beauty of the Andes and the people. I felt the trek plan was well thought out and allowed us to acclimatize to the altitude slowly. The hostel/hotel accommodation was very acceptable and the meals offered were plentiful and tasty. My only comments would be that the trek notes were not always accurate and promised views of animals, etc. that could only be seen in the Amazon region, which we were nowhere near. Our guide said he would meet with the local operator and sort that out after we left. Our guide was good and managed several minor incidences during bus travel in a responsible manner. We did think that there were at least two mountain roads where we should have gone up in smaller vehicles, as the mud road surfaces were very poor causing problems. Our driver, however, was very careful and coped very well in the occasional challenging areas. Our guide's English was acceptable but our group contained Norwegians for whom English was a second language and he frequently spoke too fast for them to follow. This was a reasonably challenging trek because of the altitude but most enjoyable.

VARIED ISOLATION
Kangchenjunga to Makalu via the Lumba Sumba La
An extremely varied trek, ranging from semi-tropical forests, through bamboo forests to above the tree line trekking. Extremely isolated trekking once past the few villages, not that these, mostly Tibetan style houses and people, were not very interesting to spend a little time in. Some of the days near the pass seemed very short but it was all planned to acclimatise slowly, which meant everyone took the high altitude pass in their stride. Nothing was surprising for such a long trek with a high altitude central pass. The pathways ranged from easy to treacherous and be prepared for very cold nights near the top and don’t go if you have any concerns about vertigo (both bridges and ledge pathways). Extremely well supported trek, with a local guide, sirdar and cook who took great care of us. Any cook that can keep me, a confirmed carnivore, interested in vegetables for nearly 3 weeks is a genius in presentation! Highly recommended for treks away from the crowds. The KE rating is fair, not because of difficulty but more because of the length and isolation.

Excellent Himalaya Trek
Dhaulagiri Circuit via the French Pass
This was an outstanding Nepal trek that I highly recommend without reservation for anyone seeking a challenging but spectacular mountain trek experience. Scenery was superb and varied, progressing through farm countryside, quaint villages, lush forests, and finally above tree-line with vast Himalayan mountain vistas. I felt that daily walking pace, distance covered, and altitude gain were all reasonable. Notably, no client suffered significant altitude problems, only a couple transient headaches . Views before and after the French and Damphus passes were stunning. Hiking was great every day, with numerous waterfalls, scenic rivers, and of course snow-capped mountains. However, I especially enjoyed walking from the Hidden Valley campsite (5120m) to the meadow campsite Yak Kharka (4000m), passing over the Dhamphus Pass followed by a long but stunning alpine traverse and finally a precipitous descent from alpine terrain to meadows. Logistics were nearly flawless thanks to our fantastic head guide (Passang), assistant guides, porters, and cooking staff. Food was tasty, varied, and plentiful. Hygeine was excellent and no one in our group of 7 was sick on the trek. Efficient porters insured that our tents were either already set up or in process of setting up upon our arrival at every camp. Of course, near-perfect weather didn't hurt-- it was sunny every day and no more than a dusting of snow late one day in camp before dinner! Crampons and ice ax not used at all. Trails almost snow-free. Yes, nights at Dhaulagiri basecamp (about -7C in tent) and Hidden Valley (-10C in tent) were cold but tolerable with the right gear. I really think November is the best month for this trek-- slightly colder than October but better chance of stable, dry weather. In any case, days warmed up nicely. After the trek we flew from Jomsom to Pokhara where we toured the International Mountain Museum and enjoyed views of Phewa Lake from the Peace Temple.
